Agra is a major tourist destination renowned for its Mughal-era architecture, primarily drawing visitors for the iconic Taj Mahal, a UNESCO World Heritage Site built as a mausoleum by Emperor Shah Jahan. Key attractions also include the red sandstone Agra Fort, another UNESCO site and former imperial residence, and Fatehpur Sikri, the deserted capital city. Other important sites are the Tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah, also called the "Baby Taj," and Mehtab Bagh, a garden offering a view of the Taj Mahal. The best time for tourism is typically October to March.
